C’est l’un des concert-événement de notre saison : nous avons l’immense plaisir d’accueillir deux musiciens d’exception.
D’un côté, Joël Rabesolo, guitariste prodige, porte en lui l’héritage des racines malgaches, qu’il mêle avec audace au langage du jazz moderne.
De l’autre, Toine Thys, figure incontournable de la scène belge, est un explorateur infatigable dont le jeu se nourrit de rencontres aux quatre coins du monde.
Complices de longue date au sein du projet Ibiyewa, ils se retrouvent ici en duo pour un dialogue intime, où la guitare acoustique boisée de Joël s’entrelace aux textures chaleureuses des saxophones et de la clarinette basse de Toine. Leur parcours commun a forgé une écoute instinctive, laissant l’improvisation circuler librement entre rythmes africains et mélodies voyageuses.
Sur scène, cette amitié se transforme en une conversation organique, vibrante de spontanéité et de générosité.

Wat een genoegen om 2026 te beginnen met deze twee uitzonderlijke muzikanten in onze living. Joël Rabesolo, een gitarist van uitzonderlijk talent, die het erfgoed van zijn Malagassische wortels in zich draagt en dit met lef vermengt met de taal van de moderne jazz. En Toine Thys, een vaste waarde op de Belgische scène, een onvermoeibare ontdekkingsreiziger wiens spel gevoed wordt door ontmoetingen overal ter wereld.
Als oude kompanen binnen het project Ibiyewa vinden ze elkaar hier in een intiem duo, waar Joëls warme, akoestische gitaar zich verweeft met de rijke klanken van Toines saxofoons en basklarinet. Hun gezamenlijke traject heeft een instinctieve luisterhouding gesmeed, waardoor improvisatie vrij kan stromen tussen Afrikaanse ritmes en reizende melodieën.
Op het podium verandert deze vriendschap in een organische muzikale conversatie, bruisend van spontaniteit en gulheid.

It’s one of the highlight concerts of our season: we are thrilled to welcome two exceptional musicians.
On one side, Joël Rabesolo, a prodigious guitarist who carries the heritage of his Malagasy roots and boldly blends it with the language of modern jazz. On the other side, Toine Thys, a key figure on the Belgian scene, an tireless explorer whose playing is nourished by encounters across the globe.
Long-time partners in the Ibiyewa project, they reunite here as a duo for an intimate dialogue, where Joël’s warm acoustic guitar intertwines with the rich textures of Toine’s saxophones and bass clarinet. Their shared journey has forged an instinctive sense of listening, allowing improvisation to flow freely between African rhythms and wandering melodies.
